Coconuts & Coconut Oil Superfood Rage

A co-worker recently mentioned that they wanted to learn more about the benefits of Coconuts. That got me thinking. I’d bet the general public doesn’t know the wonderful things a coconut can do for them.

Here are just a few of their many benefits. Coconuts can:

Enhance thyroid function
Lower cholesterol
Accelerate weight loss
Balance your hormones
Stabalize moods
Boost overall energy
Super hydrate you

Coconut Water has been found to be 10 times more hydrating than water, tastes great in smoothies, or drinking alone and can be used on your face as refreshing tonic like they do in the tropics.

Our skin is made up of connective tissues. These tissues give our skin strength and elasticity. When we are young and healthy the skin is smooth, elastic and supple. As we age, we all know what happens to the outer appearance of our skin. Coconut oil can add many benefits to aging skin.

Unrefined “Virgin” Coconut Oil applied directly to the skin will soften and enhance your natural beauty. It can be used all over your body as a softener and the added benefit will be your skin “drinking” it up to support your system and fend off free radicals. Coconut oil will not only bring temporary relief to the skin, but it will aid in healing and repairing. It will have lasting benefits, unlike most lotions. It can help bring back a youthful appearance. The coconut oil will aid in removing the outer layer of dead skin cells, making the skin smoother. The skin will become more evenly textured with a healthy “shine”.

It will help to reduce chronic skin inflammation within days and be soothing and healing to wounds, blood blisters, rashes, etc. It is an excellent ingredient to use in healing salves and ointments.

I use it for everything. I put it in my smoothies, use it on my body especially around my eyes to reduce the “wrinkle effect” and on my hair/nails/feet. It’s an over all great skin smoother.

Add it to your dogs food. My dog LOVES it.

Drink it, eat it, slather it! You’ll be glad you did.

Hotel For Dogs Benny goes green

Since I just got back from taking my daughter to the cinema and she loved Hotel for Dogs, I thought this would be a great time to post a Raw Vegan dog food recipe. Yes, I said Raw, Vegan Dog Food! It is the healthiest treat for your dog and if you are a dog lover like me, you will want to keep your little friend around for a long time.

This is Ani Phyo’s favorite dog food recipe.
1 clove garlic
1 tbsp. sea salt
1 c sunflower seeds
1 c almonds, cashews, brazils or walnuts
2 cups greens and veggies
(kale, spinach, squash, carrots)
1 tbsp. fresh herbs
(basil, oregano, cilantro, dill)
2 tbsp olive oil

Process the garlic and salt into small pieces. Add sunflower seeds and nuts – process into a powder. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
Scoop into a dog bowl and drizzle with olive oil.

Next time you have left over veggies, use them up in the dog bowl!
